Human perceptions are controlled during encounters; so are conscious memories.   Screen memories go beyond seeing animals instead of aliens (or whatever) during an encounter.   The perception of pain and pleasure are controlled, as are the human's emotional response.   Great fear can be transformed into a sense of peacefulness and love for one's abductors: brainwashing supreme.

An abductee may recall false memories that overlay the actual events of an encounter -- even with the application of regressive hypnosis.   Many abductees report being harassed by entities that seem to be human.
