I really do believe you should have some of these items on hand. For one thing, actors and everyone else tend to think you are "the bees knees" if you can come up with an off the wall item they really need.

I started to take my kit seriously during a production of Julius Caesar when the Production Stage Manager came running up to me and told me one of the actors was feeling queasy and needed some dramimine. A hurried decision had been made to hold the house for a "few" minutes while someone ran the errand. Luckily, I had some in my kit and an annoying wait was sidestepped.
