Well the good news is I've discovered a great site. The bad news is I still haven't found the object of my search, a list of the Jefferson County, AL Historic Sites. If you find, please add it; I'll be back. I'm sending your URL to all my Bama friends s I consider this a true find. Chris cromei@aol.com

To whom it may concern, There will be only one new college football bowl game for the 1999-2000 season and its happening in Mobile Alabama! The game will match the second selection from the WAC and the second selection from Conference USA. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30pm on Dec. 22nd at Ladd Peebles Stadium. The game will also be televised nationally on ESPN II. The Mobile Alabama Bowl will bring over 20,000 visitors to the gulf coast area for "Bowl Week" (Dec. 16th-Dec. 23rd, 1999). We would like your participation with entertaining our guests to the region. Since the City of Mobile has only 1500 rooms, many of the visitors will be staying along the Mississippi to Florida Gulf Coast. This is a unique opportunity to advertise your business for the event and for follow-up visits to the coast. Excitement is building throughout the region......Our website can provide additional information on the game. You can find it at www.mobilealbowl.com. Please email or call me for additional details on sponsorship opportunities. You can also advertise your link on our website. I look forward to discussing this opportunity in more detail with you. Please post our link... Sincerely, Jack Roubik Mobile Alabama Bowl 334-391-5178 - carphone 334-635-0011- office jack@mobilealbowl.com

Your countdown clock is mis-labeled. You are counting down to Y2K not the new MILLENNIUM (spelled incorrectly on home page). There are 100 years in a millennium, with the first millennium being 01/01/0001 to 12/31/1000, and the second millennium going f om 01/01/1001 to 12/31/2000. We do not begin the third millenium or the 21st Century until 01/01/2001...

Your millennium counter is interesting in that the millennium doesn't start until Jan. 1, 2001. When 01-01-2000 gets here, only 1999 full years will have passed since 1 B.C (there is no 0 B.C.). So you must get past the end of the year 2000, specifical y to 01-01-2001, before 2000 years will have passed. A similar concept occurs when a woman is pregnant. She must carry the baby for 9 full months, therefore her baby is due at the END of the 9th month, not at the beginning of that month. The current millenium will still be gestating at the beginning of th 1000th year (in this case, the year 2000), it will have been "gestated" for a full 1000 years when the year 2000 is completed--Jan. 1, 2001. Only then will the new millennium begin. Sorry about the rant--this is just my pet peeve because the timing of a millennium's beginning and end is a matter of fact, not of opinion.
