Glenn Hall #1

Glenn Hall was born on October 3, 1931, in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. His nickname was "Mr. Goalie". Hall played in goal for the Hawks from 1957 to 1967. The eleven-time all-star is best know for his consecutive streak of 502 games. The streak started in 1955 and lasted until November 7, 1962, when he leaned down to adjust a toestrap on his pads and upon trying to straighten up, found that his back refused to cooperate. Making this streak even more remarkable is the fact that it was accomplished in an era where goalies didn't wear masks.

It is hard to imagine because of the streak, but Hall was so nervous before games that he would get down on his hands and knees and throw up. Hall holds the current Blackhawks record for longest shutout sequence in the playoffs with 161 minutes and 50 seconds of scoreless hockey during the Blackhawks march to the 1960-61 Stanley Cup. In 1967, Hall was traded to St. Louis where he finished his career. In 1975, Hall was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Today, he is a part-time scout and goaltending coach for the Calgary Flames.
