"Children First"
|
The best way to instill confidence in reading is to make sure that the
reading
material is at the student's independent reading level. At this level the
student
should be able to pronounce all the words and understand the meaning of the
passage.
No assistance should be needed.
Provide your children with a wide variety of reading materials. Paperback books, magazines, newspapers, and high-interest materials often will help motivate the children to read. Encourage family reading time each day. Set aside a special time for everyone to enjoy reading as a family. Your own enthusiasm about reading will be passed to your children. |
