My father's father's father's father was called LENEACHON but when he married they couldn't spell the name and it was changed to LANAGAN. I would like to hear from any English Lanagan's.

As I understand it my great grandfather came from a village called Sunnycroft and joined the British cavalary seeing service in the Crimea and India. He appears to have had a somewhat colourful life with the drink and finally settled in South Wales. I was always told that until my sons were born I was the last Lanagan, now i know different.

My great-grandmother was Catherine Mary Corrigan (1850?-4/24/20), who married James William Lanagan (1856, NYC; d. 11/22/1890, Erie, PA) in Buffalo, New York, in June 1870. James' father (my great-great-grandfather), possibly also named James, died in March 1887 in NYC. A family narrative from a now-deceased relative says he was "killed in the line of duty." He married an O'Connor; I don't know her first name. Please send me an e-mail if you have any information about any of these folks. Thanks!

My Lanagan ancestry is from Boston. Andrew Lanagan came to the new world in the late 1800's from Co armaugh, married Katie O'conner they had 4 daughters and one son. The boy died in a drowning accident but all four girls lived to a ripe old age. One of them my grandmother Clare Lanagan Lingenfelter. She died in 1989 South Yarmouth. Drop me an E- ail if you know of Andrew and exactly where he came from. thanks...

A small error in my previous message. Agnes Flora Macdonald Brown was the sister of my grandfather (not great grandfather). Therefore Albert E. and Agnes Flora Macdonald (Brown) Lanagan were/are my great aunt and uncle.

Albert E. Lanagan married 1915, Inverell, NSW Agnes Flora Macdonald Brown children - Joan, Lesley, Bruce + another male I assume the abovementioned Albert E. is the same Albert Edward, son of Edward (b.27/7/1845) Agnes Flora Macdonald Brown was my great grandfather's sister. Would be interested in more on the Lanagan family past and present. Happy to share Brown/Macdonald family information back to Scotland for many many generations. Please email me.

Great page ! My Lanagans go back to Donegal & Londonderry. They emigrated to the States in the early 1890s. The oldest direct link that we have goes back to just prior to the famine. Best wishes for the upcoming holidays !

Just in passing, I'm related to an Edward Lanagan who lived in Derry Co. (Faughanvale Parish) according to the 1831 census. He had a son named Thomas who named his children Edward, Mary, John, and Rose....I couldn't help but notice the similar names (al eit that they are all common) in your line. These children lived in Donegal Co. Anyway, it's a nice page (visit mine!...even if mine's not pretty!:) -Ranna Lanagan
