John William Malloy Wilkes was a member of Co. F, 8th South Carolina Infantry, Kershaw's Brigade. He was captured shortly before the Battle of Cedar Creek in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. John died on December 19, 1864 and is buried in Grave # 633. He left two small boys behind, one of whom was practically blind.
