Something in Common

I can not believe how much our dogs look alike!! I also have a chow mix.

She was let out on the side of the road near the race track I was working at. When I first noticed her she was so small and very scared of people. I have always tried to stay away from stray dogs for fear of being attacked. There was just something about her that drew me to her. During the day she would stay with me inside my office since it was June and very hot outside. On the nights we would race she would be in the tower along with the owner of the track, the manager and myself. After a month of feeding her and giving her a " home " we named her E.T. We worked at a Drag Strip and she loved to run down the strip, so we started calling her E.T. for Estimated Time. That's how long you think it will take you to get to end of the strip. She became our mascot and she became my baby!

The owner paid for her to be fixed and I took her into my home and heart. She was only 6 months old when I befriended her in June 1999. I had never had a pet of my own before so this has been a learning experience. But I would never trade it for anything. She has always been a ray of sunshine to me and I know I was meant to have her. I thank God everyday for the people that threw her out of their car because if they hadn't I would never have known the love that we have for each other.

I am now a dispatcher for my local police department and when my 12 hour shift is over I can not wait to come home and see my baby girl. I do not have the luxury of having her at work with me anymore, so I spend as much time with her as possible. I could not imagine my life without her. She is heaven sent, I call her my special gift from God. And believe me she is spoiled rotten! I have been lucky with her health, only recently has her weight became a problem. She is now on a diet and we are trying to loose weight. So far so good but we still have a ways to go.

I am so very sorry you had to experience parvo, but it was meant to have a happy ending and you were meant to have Dixie. I hope that she continues to stay healthy and strong as well as your other k-9 friends. I will remember you and yours in my prayers from here on out. God bless you!

Sincerely,
Felica and E.T.
