Map of the Public Areas / Mapa de las zonas publicas

The following map indicates the location and status of the public lands in Tamarindo. The areas colored green have been turned over to the Municipality and cannot be changed or sold.  The areas in blue have not been turned over to the Municipality, and as far as we know, have not yet been sold to private individuals. The area in red are in private hands.

According to the laws of urbanization,15% of the land to be developed must be put aside for public use before the area can be sold. We have asked the Municipality on numerous occasions to enforce this law.

This map is not 100% accurate. There have been changes made by most of the developers. We urge the Tamarindo Diría to inscribe the public lands in Langosta and Vista del Capitan. We also hope that Russel Weinrich and Claudio Cerdas turn over the properties they own in BEKO and in Puesto del Sol. Anyone who would like to help maintain the parks should contact The Junta Directiva of the Asociacion Pro Mejoras de Playa Tamarindo.

Proposed Family Park / Propuesto parque de familia

A group of neighbors in Tamarindo have contracted an architect to design a family park in Tamarindo. The family park is an alternative to the previously proposed cultural plaza at Parque de la Independencia. With the design of the park, it was kept in mind that the construction of the park be inexpensive, that the park should be able to fund itself and it should serve the needs of Tamarindo's community. The park is to be build on the site across the street from the Hotel Milagro. It is to have a miniature soccer field, a half size basketball court, a cement path for bicycling or roller-skating, a horse-shoe area, a playscape, benches, picnic tables, plants and trees. Also planned on the premises is a small office. The initial costs of the park's construction is to come out of the saved Bingo funds and further funding from the proceeds of the office. More information about the park will be presented December 15th at the General Assembly, Hotel Pasatiempo, 3pm. At the meeting Tamarindo's residents will be able to vote for the park.
