Welcome to the wonderful world of Danny Elfman. You have heard his fantastic scores if you have watched Tim Burton movies like "Pee Wee's Big Adventure," "Batman," "Beetle Juice," "Edward Scissorhands" or "The Nightmare Before Christmas." Their partnership is a bit like Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynchs'. Their combined talents of music and vision have always thoroughly entertained me. A style like no other, the music is dreamy, haunting, crisp and melodic. You can also hear Elfman in the the theme song for Matt Groening's animated TV show, "The Simpsons." Below are midi theme songs from some of these shows, free for download, or for just listening. Other scores by him include "Darkman," "Men in Black," "Dolores Claiborne," "Dead Presidents," "To Die For," "Good Will Hunting," "Extreme Measures," "The Frighteners," and "Mission Impossible." A lot of these later scores lack the mystical sound that I had come to know in Elfman's music, with the possible exception of Darkman. Upcoming and recent scores from Elfman are: "A Simple Plan," "A Civil Action" and the new remake of "Psycho." |
