© 1993, The University Daily Kansan This cartoon, unfortunately, has an almost timeless quality. It had been an appropriate topic for a cartoon for more than a year before I drew it.

I came up with this cartoon when word got out that the First Infantry Division had buried Iraqi soldiers alive when they refused to come out of their trenches during the Gulf War. The Big Red One is headquarted in Ft. Riley, Kansas, 16 miles from Manhattan, where this cartoon was published.
