The Alliance is a compilation of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Bands compiled from around the world. Undertow was picked as one of only three Canadian bands whom sparked enough interest from Emperor Records to allow them the opportunity to showcase their musical talent, and raw energy through-out the known (and not so known) world.
Undertow
appears on track #2 with a song titled Confusion. This track was written by all three members of the band and is Undertows first appearance on an international CD. Recorded at Haggarty's Sound Studio and produced by Barry Haggarty, the 3:37 min. song is a fast paced hard rock number that catches the listener by the balls and holds them there for the full duration of the single!
There are 8 bands featured on this CD that range from Blues based rock to all out Death Metal. Be sure to check out all the Bands in the ROCK LINKS section of Undertows main page!

1996 saw Undertow head to the studio for what would become their first recording together. The independant tape funded entirely by the band contained 7 original tracks. The songs ranged from hard to commercial rock with a (power ballad) thrown in for good measure. 5 of the 7 tunes were written by all three members, with only (Lonely World) a track penned by the Haywood brothers, and (The End) written by Rick and former band mate; and brother Derek Hubbard. Taking on the lead vocal tracks, all three members share the spotlight. From Rick's gravely, cut your throat melodys, to Dave's powerful verses, and Aaron's smooth choruses, the listener gets a wide range and variety of styles that is refreshing as compared to only one lead singer.
Recording and Producing the album at a 24 track basement studio, with a guy named (Buzz),had more then it's share of difficulties. Not dwelling on the negative aspects the band pushed on to sell roughly 400 copies with little difficulty.
The band gained positive reviews from the demo and used the experience to push themselves in a live setting.
