Activities:
Exhibition of Paintings, thematically based on Jyoti Sangeet, in the National Museum Gallery,
organized in collaboration with the National Museum & National Museum
Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology (Deemed
University), New Delhi .
Besides
the art lovers of the national capital, visitors from various countries
appreciated the weeklong exhibition. It was the first of its kind
experiment of visual interpretation of Jyoti Sangeet.
The exhibition, conceived by Suresh Ranjan Goduka, had on display 20 paintings of Rituraj Medhi, based on some famous songs of the legendary Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, one of the greatest personalities Assam has ever produced. Most of the works were in oil pastel; a few were in oil, tempera and mixed media.

Rituraj is a new generation artist from Assam having a musical bent of mind, and lure towards colour. By profession an Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner at Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, Rituraj has been experimenting with the folk tunes of Assam and other northeastern States and their use in modern songs. He has also performed in radio and television.
Prof. (Dr.) Indira Goswami, Gyanpeeth Award recipient,
inaugurated the Exhibition, while Dr. R. D. Choudhury, Director General,
National Museum and Vice-Chancellor, National Museum Institute, was
present as the Guest of Honour in the inaugural ceremony, held on January
17. Both lauded the efforts of Assam Initiative.
Visitors from countries like Korea, Japan, Australia, France, the USA etc. commented that they got to know Assam for the first time.
