Licentiate in International Transactions Involving the United States

Anticipating further globalization of the world economies, the University of California, Davis, School of Law and University Extension established the four-week Orientation in U.S.A. Law Institute to train foreign lawyers and judges in the U.S. legal system with emphasis on the fundamentals of international and domestic business and trade law. A two-week Advanced U.S.A. Law Program was added to the curriculum in 1995. There are two programs in the Advanced U.S.A. Law Program: the first program, Structuring an International Joint Venture, emphasizes complex international business transactions while the second program, The Global Trading System: Substance and Dispute Resolution, focuses on international trade, commerce and investments, and international dispute resolution. Together, these three programs will form the core curriculum for a Licentiate in International Transactions Involving the U.S. Those obtaining the licentiate will have specialized knowledge in international business and trade law with particular emphasis on the United States legal system used in a comparative context.

Offered for a total of 20 quarter units of academic credit, this rigorous program may be completed in July and August during a two- or three-year period.
