The Tear Down With the tear down in process, Mud puppy takes on a whole different look. Also one starts to uncover hidden secrets that can be frustrating as well as intriguing. This process was fun but demanding. Having very few tools, I found that it was important to have the "right" tools. I invested in an air wrench, a set of rachets and bought stock in WD-40, these made the tear down much easier and less painful. After I got the tools everything went pretty smooth. The jeep is pretty simple to put into pieces. Removing the fenders was a simple as removing six or seven bolts. The dash was easy but there are a few wires behind it so, make sure you take a lot of pictures. That way you will know how to put it back together. After removing the hold down bolts, my neighbor and I carried the tub from its resting place into the garage. My son thought it was neat to have a vehicle sideways in the garage. However, there are some problems I am going to have to deal with on the tub. The large hole at the top is where the gas can sits. It has rusted completely through. I have tried looking for a replacement panel but, have been unsuccessful. I think my neighbor and I are going to build one ourselves. 18 gauge metal and a welder ought to do the job.
