Descendants of Jan Alberts Boekema

Many friends have helped me to collect the data which we have now: Gerda Boekema from Groningen, Lisa Boekema, Cyndi Wainowski-Boekema and Eileen Barnes-Boekema from Michigan, Hein Boekema from Eindhoven. Nynke Huizing, fifth generation Bokma, forwarded data concerning Bokke Alberts who adopted the name of BOKMA in 1811, while his brother Jan Alberts declared BOEKEMA as his family name. I have many other data related to the name of Bokma which will bring us back to the 15th century. Those data will be made available as soon as possible.
For the time being (February 2002) we will update Jan Alberts and descendants. The descendants of Albert Joseph Mathijs have been updated on 22 Aug. 2003.

It is noteworthy that several members of this family tree migrated to the US: Jantje Boekema-Denkema from Kollumerland, Friesland, to Michigan, with 6 children, in 1867; Sake Wybrens Boekema, grandchild of a brother of Jantje, from Wartena to Manhattan, Montana, in 1913; Felix Antonius Boekema and one of his sons, Albert Mathys, from Noord-Brabant to Michigan, in 1920, where Felix joined two other sons.
