overview |
Because of the
distances involved, Wigtownshire clubs were not popular additions to the
league competitions. Therefore. in 1913 six of the county’s seven senior
clubs decided to form their own league. Whithorn didn’t enter, but three
other clubs had difficulties playing fixtures namely Stranraer (who had a
dispute with the Wigtownshire FA), Creetown Volunteeers (who had no ground)
and Garlieston Excelsior. Despite matches being fulfilled during the first
part of the season, none were played after the New Year, and the league was
eventually wound up unfinished. |
