Chan v. Ontario Hydro

Ms. Chan believe that all individuals have inherent dignity and equal rights. All should be treated with respect, without discrimination regardless of gender, race, place of origin... Ms. Chan believe that all employees should hae the right to work in a healthy and safe environment. But believes that these basic rights have been regularly violated by Ontario Hydro in her case and that of three other female employees. All four women alleged that they were yelled at, subjected to debasing comments and demeaning behavior by the same supervisor, arbitrary discipline and further subjected to reprisal actions when they protested such harassment behavior and its health impact on them to Ontario Hydro's management.

Because of her gender, race and place of origin, Ms. Chan alleged that she was subjeted to ongoing vexatious and obnoxious comments, disparaging conducts, unfair job assignments, inequitable resource allocation, forced and unpaid overtime, intentional infliction of emotional distress, refused opportunity for training even at her own free time, farfetched threats of discipline, systematic acts of reprisal when protesting such harassment to management until she finally collapsed physicaly and mentally at work and eventually terminated from her employment.

Ms. Chan will continue to fight a uphill battle with the bureaucracy until she secures a hearing of her case on the merits at the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
