Carrying the Flag: The Story of Private Charles Whilden, the Confederacy's Most Unlikely Hero

The story of a private who's life motto seemed to be (in the words of the old Hee Haw song), "if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all." Charles failed at just about everything ever he tried yet on one fatefull day during the Battle of the Mule Shoe he wrapped his regiment's battle flag around his body and lead them forward in recovering and holding the key part of the line. His is the story of how one unknown person altered the course of history.
