John Gerretsen Liberal an immediate family member is adopted (sister) with contact vetoes with contact vetoes I appreciate the opportunity to share my views on a subject which is very close to me.

As you are aware, several bills regarding adoption disclosure laws have been read in the Legislature over the past few years, and there is almost unanimous support for changes to these laws. I have both spoken and voted in favour of legislation to open up adoption records to adult adoptees and adult birth parents. I firmly believe that in most cases, adult adoptees and birth-parents should have the right to access this information. The Liberal Party of Ontario also introduced amendments to these Bills to increase their effectiveness, firstly by increasing the penalty for violating a contact veto, and secondly to make it mandatory for the birth parent to provide a family medical history.
