Luigi D'Agnillo Green an extended family member is adopted with disclosure vetoes with disclosure vetoes I have consulted the Green Party's large policy document, and found no mention of adoptions, 'open' or otherwise. I will offer my own opinions, but have no special knowledge of the adoptive process.

Often the pregnancy and birth is a trauma or time of crisis for the birth parents; I think it is best that they have a veto.

In this case (birth parent access to amended birth certificate), the adoptee (presumably a child), may or may not be mature enough for such a decision. Am I to assume that the birth parents have access (veto excepted) to the amended birth certificate only after the child is 18 years of age?

Ted Martin NDP Other: a life-long friend is an adoptee, another close friend is an adoptive parent of two children, sister-in-law is a birth parent who gave her child up for adoption with contact vetoes with contact vetoes I am answering the following questions by stating the sort of legislation I would ideally support. However, being very aware of the reality of political compromise from my years on the school board, I recognize that I might have to be willing to support legislation that merely approaches that ideal.

I believe that adult adoptees must be allowed to have a copy of their birth registration and any other information made available (as a result of a contact veto) , but that birth parents should be allowed to file a contact veto.

I believe that birth parents should have access to the original birth registration, the amended birth registration, the adoption order, and any other information made available (as a result of a contact veto), but that adoptees should be allowed to file a contact veto.

As I'm sure you are aware, my Conservative opponent in this election, Wayne Wettlaufer, introduced a bill that would impose a fine of up to $100,000 on those who reunite outside of the Adoption Disclosure Registry and would only open records for future adoptions.

Meanwhile, NDP MPP Marilyn Churley has thrice introduced legislation to open adoption records, only to be thwarted by the government.

John Milloy Liberal an immediate family member is adopted with contact vetoes with contact vetoes These reflect my preliminary views. If elected, I would be quite interested in learning more about this complex and emotional issue.
