TURGON'S HOUSE - IGM #10

TYPE OF IGM: Significant gain in Strength and Defense; other minor possibilities.

ENTRIES PER DAY: Once per Day.

MAJOR GOALS IN USE: Exchanging Higher Levels of Weapons or Armour for Lower levels, and then buying up.

STRATEGY

This is a very interesting IGM.  It can be used but once a day, but depending on the results, you can trade back up in weapons or armour and gain significant amounts of Strength or Defense.  It seems that the lower your level, the more difference in levels of equipment that will be offered.  For example, at level 2, you might be often be offered a level 2 or 3 piece for a much higher level - but at level 9 or 10, there might only be one or two levels of difference between what you have and what you're offered.

1) Before going into this IGM: I try to have the highest level of Weapons and Armour I can before going into the IGM, yet with leaving myself gold that I can buy Up after the IGM.

2) How it works:  After Entering Turgons House, you find yourself in the Entryway... choose ook at the Coat Hanger, and you will find 3 choices.  The third choice will be a type of Armour.  If it's lower than what you have, choose rade, and say Yes to doing so when asked to confirm the trade!

I know this sounds odd, but the fact is, that while you trade (for example) a Level 10 Weapon for a Level 2 Weapon, your Strength points do not go down!  This means that when you leave the IGM, if you then sell the level 2 weapon and buy a level 10 weapon again, you get that entire gain in Strength.

Let me detail it:   You enter the IGM with a Level 10 weapon, and a Strength score of 100.  You are offered a trade for this weapon, for a Level 3 weapon.  You accept the trade, and when returning to the regular game, you still have a Strength score of 100.  But now, you sell the level 3 weapon, and buy (let's say your gold is a little more limited), a Level 8 Weapon.  You then get the full amount of increase between level 3 and 8 weapons, so your Strength is now be more like 160 instead of 100!

This technique is highly dependant on a careful management of your gold.  You want to ideally have the highest levels of equipment possible, and hope for the lowest possible of equipment to be offered in Trade.  The greater the difference, the more gain you'll get when you buy back to the previous (or close to previous) level of equipment.

3) If the trade offered is for something higher!: Well, that's usually not a great thing, unless the trade up is large enough that you can gain a lot of Gold from it.  For example, if you have a level 8 piece of equipment, and are offered a level 12 piece instead, then if you need gold, you could sell it, buy a level 10 piece, and still have a gain of a couple million gold.

4) If the Trade offered is the Same:  Refuse it... there's no gain.

5) Other uses of this IGM: When in the Living Room, I always choose to ove the cushions around... when doing so, you're given a choice of looking under cushion 1, 2, or 3.  If you get lucky, (a 1 in 3 chance), you might find between 3 to 10 gems.  No biggie, but nice.  There's also many other things to do in here, but I've never found any of them beneficial enough to bother with, but that doesn't mean there isn't more to discover.

6) Saving the IGM: Depending on how strong I am before killing the Dragon, I may or may not use this IGM prior to attacking the Dragon. If I'm already strong, I'll save it until after the Dragon, and hope I get enough gold to make it useful. If I'm a little weak though for Dragon killing, I'll use it to try and get stronger before challenging the Dragon.  The same goes for using it before Player Challenges if I'm concerned about winning.

If I do choose to save it until after killing the Dragon, I'll in turn try to get all the gold I can (such as in Freeworld, or by Asking Seth Able to Sing - and hoping to double the gold I have), and then decide how to divy up the spending.  I'll buy the highest levels of equipment I can, with still leaving enough gold that I can again increase the levels of equipment if I get a good trade.

As an example, if after all the IGMs, I have apx. 600,000 gold, I might buy level 6 weapon and armour for a total of 200,000, leaving myself 400,000 gold.  I then hope I get a good trade back down to level 2 or 3 stuff, and then buy level 8 stuff for 400,000 gold.  This means I've gained a lot in my stats twice, instead of just once, by buying better equipment.

In a realm where there's two different IGMs that might give up to 500 Strength, this one may seem insignificant.  However, those IGMs don't always give you those kinds of gains; but with proper management of gold, this one can result in a daily gain of up to several hundred points in Strength or Defense.  It doesn't always work, and some days you may only get a real gain in one of the two areas, but used on a Daily Basis, it can do as much as the big score IGMs after only a couple of days.
