Mont M. McIntire was born September 30, 1884, location unknown. He died January 10, 1963, location also unknown. He married Fulsom H. ???, date unknown. Mont graduated Magnolia High School in Wetzel County, WV, and WVU Law School. He practiced law from 1907 until his death in 1963. Hehad quite a name in WVU athletics, as follows.

coach was making headlines and receiving numerous congratulatory greetings.
Mont M. (Tubby) McIntire, famous for his coaching successes at West Virginia
University and Magnolia High School, had been appointed a member of the
State Racing Commission by Governor
Clarence Meadows.
McIntire's appointment
was widely acclaimed as a wise choice because of his long interest in racing
and breeding. Locally, he had been aiding A.C. Roettels in establishing
Paducah Farms at Steelton, the first race horse breeding farm ever located
in northern West Virginia.
McIntire was coach
at West Virginia in the days when the Mountaineers were the scourge of
Eastern gridirons and "Rat" Rogers became the University's first All American
choice.
Locallly the name
"Tubby" brought to mind the famous Eagles team which he led into a state
championship.
As a teacher, McIntire's
development of good kickers stood out. He "made" Eddy Bartug, one
of the finest kickers ever to boot a pigskin for West Virginia."
