Silas Crawford McIntire and Charlotte Hurley
Biography of Silas Crawford McIntireOctober 23, 1845, marks the marriage date of Silas to Charlotte Hurley, daughter of Nehemiah Hurley and Elizabeth Willis Hurley of Belmont County. Late in 1856 Silas moved to Marshall County, WV, and built a log cabin about one and one-half mile off of Burch Ridge in Franklin District. Silas was a Republican and attended Grace Chapel Methodist church. He was a deputy sheriff for a time and spent his lifetime farming. Silas McIntire's Obituary"Death of S.C. McIntire S. C. McIntire
was born August 26th, 1820, and died August 14th, 1895, at the home
of his son J.W., where he had carefully been waited upon during the
long illness which proved fatal. Deceased was a
member of the M.E. church, having united with that body fifty-two
years ago, and during this time the example of devotion which he set
is worthy to be followed. Silas and Charlotte are buried in the Grace Chapel Cemetery adjacent to the Grace Chapel Methodist Church located on Burch Ridge, outside of Moundsville, Marshall County, WV. The church is no longer standing. It was torn down about 1978. The Tombstones read: McIntyre, S. G.....26 Aug. 1820.....14
