James and Susan Shaw had 9 children, 7 girls and two boys. Of these, there were two sets of twins, George and Jess and Gypsy and Edward. The two boys had red hair as recalled by Kate Frost Van Pelt.

Obituary: SHAW FUNERAL RITES HELD YESTERDAY

MANNINGTON, June 2, 1941. - The Rev. B. Fred Edge officiated at the funeral services for the late James Nelson Shaw, held at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the Grangeville Baptist Church. At the services were heard a group of sacred vocal numbers rendered by Homer Shaffer, Lydia Shaffer, Lloyd Shaffer, Russell Beatty and Mrs. Homer Shaffer.

Those who served as flower bearers were Catherine Bonnell, Doris Garrison, Betty Stephens, Pauline Stephens, Eleanore Garrison, Lucille Gump and Elva Shaw. Woodrow Matheny, Mansfield Matheny, Everett Matheny, Paul Shaw, Marcus Shaw and Ora Frost, grandsons of the deceased were the pall bearers.

Burial was made in the Hawker cemetery by J.B. Lazear, local undertaker. Mr. Shaw was a respected and successful farmer of the Joetown country. He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Susan L. McIntyre, two sons and six daughters.

Obituary, Fairmont Times 5-30-1941: JAMES N. SHAW, 81, CLAIMED BY DEATH.

Mannington, May 30--James Nelson Shaw, 81, died in his home near Grangeville this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Born October 8, 1860, in Preston county, he was the son of the late Jesse and Mary Cunningham Shaw.

Mr. Shaw was a prosperous farmer of the Grangeville section for many years. His wife preceded him in death.

The following sons and daughters survive: Edward Shaw, Wallace; George Shaw, Fairmont; Mrs. Ruby Wood, Wallace; Mrs. Carrie Matheny, Mannington R. F. D.; Mrs. Hazel Garrison, Fairmont; Mrs. Celeste Frost, Mannington; Mrs. Jessie Stephens, Cameron;, Mrs. Minnie Smith, Wheeling. Twenty-five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.

The funeral of James Nelson Shaw will be held at 3:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Baptist church at Grangeville with the paster, the Rev. J. Edge, as officiating minister.

Celeste has been described as a very warm, loving woman who always made everyone feel at home. She was her brother Edward's favorite sister. She was a wonderful cook. She had brown hair and eyes.

OBITUARY: Times-W.Va., Fairmont, W.Va., Sunday, Jan. 5, 1958: "Celeste Hibbs. Mrs. Celeste Ann Hibbs of Mannington, RFD, died Saturday in Fairmont General Hospital. She was 67.

She was born at Grangeville on Feb. 7, 1891, the daughter of James and Susan McIntyre Shaw.

She was married to William E. Frost who is now deceased.

Mrs. Hibbs was a member of the Grangeville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Arlie T. Hibbs; four sons, Orval E. Frost of Mannington, Andrew L. Frost of Asheville, N.C., William E. Frost of Mannington and Ora Frost of Mannington; three daughters, Mrs. Elsie Floyd and Mrs. Katherine Vanpelt, both of Mannington, and Mrs. Mary Parrish of Pittsburgh; five sisters. "

DEATHS: (same paper, same day) "Hibbs--Mrs. Celeste Ann, 67, died Saturday in Fairmont General Hospital. Friends will be received at the W. F. Jones Funeral Home, Mannington, after 11 a.m. Sunday. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Cecil Patterson of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Whetstone Cemetery."

Obituary Times-West Virginian, Fairmont, April 5, 1934: " FROST SERVICES TO BE HELD ON SUNDAY ---Mannington, April 5--funeral services for William Edward Frost, water engineer of the City of Mannington, who died yesterday morning following a long illness, will be held at 1:30 o';clock Sunday afternoon in the home in Buffalo road. These services will be followed by rites in the United Brethren Church at Joetown and burial will be made in the Whetstone Cemetery by Huey & Jones, local funeral directors.

The deceased was a valued employee of this city, having served the city since 1923. he became engineer in charge of the water plant upon its completion in August, 1928. For the past 27 years he has been a faithful member of the United Brethren Church at Joetown.

He was devoted to his family and was a good neighbor in the highest sense of the term. He was ever ready to render any assistance possible in time of need, and his passing is felt as a keen loss to the entire community."

Obituary for Gypsy Shaw: Miss Gypsy SHAW, Buried at BINGAMON.

MANNINGTON, JULY 6. The funeral services for Miss Gypsy Shaw, aged 34 years, who died at her home at Grangeville last Wednesday evening at 5:20 o'clock, following an illness of one year, were held from the Baptist Church at Bingamon this morning with the Rev. C.E. Tilton, pastor of the First Baptist Church of this city officiating. The services consisted of prayer, scripture reading, a brief funeral sermon. Burial was made in the Hawker cemetery, and Harmer and Son, undertakers of Shinnston had charge of all funeral arrangments.

The deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James N. Shaw, of Grangeville. She was born on May 9, 1893. She attended the public schools of that place where she spent her entire life. She united with the Baptist Church at Bingamon when a very young woman, where she was a consistent and faithful member. Miss Shaw had many friends and her death is the cause of sincere grief on the part of all who knew her. Besides her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Edward Shaw of near Webster Springs and George Shaw of Fairmont, and six sisters, Mrs. Ruby Webb near Margaret, Mrs. Minnie Smith of Wheeling, Mrs. Jessie Stevens of Cameron, Mrs. William E. Frost of near Joetown, Mrs. Hazel Garrison of Bellview, Mrs. Carrie Matheny of Flat Run.
