The first Territorial Legislature was held on the second floor of this building on February 27, 1853. It was located on the east side of Capital Way, between Olympia and State streets. A plaque marks the site. Photo from the Washington Historian

Three views of the Old Capitol, downtown Olympia. This building was originally constructed as the Thurston County Court House, but was sold to the state. A wing was added to the east side containing House and Senate Chambers. The clock tower was dismantled after it burned in 1927. Photos collected from the internet, 2001.
