Let me assure you that 'Sirayhan' is a word you've never heard before. I know this because I, Rebekah White, commonly known to the internet world as Streth Longstream, made the word up. It's from a story that I'm writing. Maybe later I'll tell you what it means. But anyway:

Sirayhan Web Design is simply a fancy name linking the websites I run in my spare time. I needed an index page so I raided my notebooks, spent a couple of days on Paint Shop Pro (love that program...) and came up with something that looked a bit flashy. Fiddled around with a bit of Javascript (thanks to HTML Goodies!) and made it look even flashier.

Yes, Sirayhan Web Design is a company, if a rather silly one at that. I employ myself, design sites for myself, and pay myself out of my own pocket money. (Well... actually I don't bother with that - that's just stupid.)

The main reason why Sirayhan exists is, as I said above, a name to go behind the sites I run - my homepage (Between the Pages) and my Redwall club (Fort Riverway). Fiddling around with JavaScript, HTML and Paint Shop Pro is one of my hobbies. Just like making greeting cards for my family is. (They are well familiar with Puddleart Enterprises, Inc.!)

Sirayhan - what? I hear you say. Well, here we go...

sirayha (sih-RAY-hah) pl. sirayhan

In the story I'm writing, have been writing for a year and will continue to write until it is good enough for publication, there is a race of people called the Dao. They're a little bit strange. They have a caste-system thing where your position in society is marked on your forehead. The position of sirayha is about as low as you can get. The logo on the index page (and on the background of this page) is the mark of the sirayha.

So why did I call my 1-person webpage company 'Sirayhan Web Design' if a sirayha is basically an untouchable? Well, the main character of my story is a sirayha. And besides, it's a cool word. Literally translated from the Dao, sirayhan means 'bonded', and since I needed something to stick my webpages together, it fit. I had the logo all there too, so obviously it was a very good case of Opportunity.

Here we have it:
