The Australian Fashion photographer Helmut Newton was born in Germany in 1920.  He was discovered by the then Australian Vogue editor Rosemary Cooper. He began in a small Melbourne studio and is today is one of the most highly acclaimed fashion photographers. After Australian Vogue Newton produced images for Vogue, Vanity Fair, Nova, Stern and Playboy. He also did advertising campaigns for numerous companies.

Nothing was too dangerous or outrageous for Newton to photograph. He went about his work light-heartedly and infused his images with sexuality sometimes bordering on the pornographic.

Newton discovered Australian icon Maggie Tabberer.
