HE has already paid the price for us.
As followers of Christ, we must remember always to
build our defense of the Christian faith on the sure foundation of
the Bible. If we do so, there will be no weight too great to be supported; no
wind too strong to be resisted.
1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and
just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.”
A young preacher was called out of a life of sin to preach the gospel of Jesus
Christ. While in the pulpit one day he
received a note in which someone had written all his past sins. In addition, it
read: “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?
You’re up there telling people to get right with God!”
Do you know what the young preacher did? He read that note,
bowed his head in prayer, stood up and said, “Ladies and gentleman I have
received a note and here is what it
says.” Then in front of that whole crowd he read every one of those sins. And
then he said this, “Yes, I am ashamed
of myself. But I am not ashamed of my Savior!”
"In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: Do not fear;
Zion, let not your hands be weak. The LORD your God
in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice
over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing" Zeph. 3:16-17
One thing we must always remember, if we are children of the
Almighty God, He is with us no matter what we are going through.
He was with Daniel in the lions den. He was with the four Hebrew
men when they were cast into the fiery furnace. He was with Elijah
in the cave. He was with Jesus in the grave. He was with Steven
when he was being stoned. He was with Paul when he was
shipwrecked. He was with John on the Isle of Patmos. He was
with the Christians in the Coliseum. He has always been with
His children and He will be with you.
He says to us today through Zephaniah, Do not fear. Do not
give up. The Lord your God is in the heart of your situation. He
effervesces love for you. He rejoices over you with shouts of
great joy. Do not fear for God is with you. Whatever situation
you are in, God is no stranger to it. He has seen it all before.
Are you unemployed? He is your provider. Are you sick? He
is your healer. Are you weak with fear? He is your peace. Are
you downhearted? He is the lifter of your head. Are you sorrowful?
He is your comfort. Are you troubled? He is your answer. What
more could you ask? Amen
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on
your
own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him.
And He shall direct your paths. Prov. 3:5-6 (NKJV)
