In 1979, Brian became the first man to land the daunting triple axel correctly (3 1/2 rotations in the air) to win the Canadian Junior National Championship. For the next four years, he was the only competitor to land it consistently... making it his "signature" move. In 1984, Brian became the first man to land the triple axel in Olympic Competition.
It would be difficult to overstate the influence that Brian Orser has had on figure skating. He has set stndards of excellence for his peers with his great ability and the tremendous sportsmanship that characterize his career.
Orser's love of children is evident in his work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Starlight Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Brian is also involved in various fundrising efforts to benefit AIDS research.
