Athelney Ministrant was rowing
down the Thames one sunny afternoon when he lost one of his oars
and began to float out to midstream. He tried to paddle with the
other, but found it diffiult. Looking around for someone to help
him, Athelney noticed a large boat coming down stream, manned by
a man and two women, all rowing.
"I say," he shoulted. "Can you lend me one of your
oars?"
The man in the other boat looked up angrily.
"They're not oars," he protested loudly. "They're
my wife and sister."
