Hon Yum is derived from the Chinese characters( ), which means great fortune. Legend has it that a beautiful white swan brings great fortune and happiness to belivers, especially lovers. A dual American meaning is derived from "Hon" an abbrviation for honey, added to "Yum", to form the restaurant's slogan, "Honey, Yum-Yummy at Hon Yum." Hon Yum Chinese Restaurant was established in 1997 and is conveniently located at the corner of West Thomas Street and Morrison Boulevard in Hammond, Louisiana. Our new equipment and cookware enhance good quality food. Our goal is to bring an appreciation of Chinese cooking and traditions to our friends here and to combine excellent traditional gourmet cuisine with courteous and professional service. Our managers and owners, Keyu and Junli, both have a good medical background and are abale to employ low fat, low cholesterol, heart-healthy methods in the food preparation. We opt for menu ordering only, allowing the food to be freshly served. A vegetarian menu is also available.
