The Sweetest Dream of All

When I was a little girl, about 8 years old in 1992, I discovered a show about a heroic girl named Sailor Moon. I fell in love with the show. I watched it every Saturday at 7 p.m. on channel 9 in Japan. I told my best friend, Ruth, and she discovered it also. Even though we couldn't understand a word of Japanese, we understood the actions of the characters. I loved the character Sailor Moon because she was so much like me even though she was older in age. Ruth chose Sailor Venus. Everyday after school Ruth and I would play Sailor Moon. Meaning we would act like the characters and run around like we were senshi. At home, I'd always wish to be as heroic as Sailor Moon and so kind like she is. I dreamed of having a prince like Mamoru. I dreamed of saving the world and having the best of friends by my side. I wanted to be Sailor Moon. I had the best of friends by my side but since my friends were all Navy kids...we all separated and eventually down through the years I moved from Japan to California. We are all still the best of friends. I found the prince of my dreams and I'm training to be a nurse's assistant and then a nurse. They help save lives. So I've found that I can still be heroic without being Sailor Moon. At the age of 17, Sailor Moon still is in my heart and I want to be like her still in my dreams.

-Note: This touches me deeply and everytime I read it I can feel tears forming in my eyes. I hope this real dream will inspire many other dreamers out there. I know I'm one.
