Common Questions asked of India YFC

How did YFC begin in India?
Fifty years ago, in 1947 the Youth for Christ ministry was established in India through the vision of a few, in order to present the Lord Jesus Christ to the youth. Since then, the work that began in the historic city of Calcutta has spread to several cities.

Is India YFC an independent organization?
India YFC is a Registered Society in India. It is affiliated with the International YFC with it's World head-quarters in Singapore. The National Executive Committee and the National Council of India YFC consisting of Christian leaders govern the organization. Youth for Christ is a world-wide organization presenting the Gospel to the youth in 127 countries.

Why Youth?
India has over 450 million young people. Today's young people are ruined by crime, violence, drugs, alcohol, and broken families. We firmly believe that their relationship with Jesus Christ and His power alone can liberate them. We continue to strive with God's help to make all the difference in the world for them by being there, caring and listening to them.

Who works for YFC?
An Organization's strength is in it's people. God has gifted India YFC with committed and dedicated full-time national workers around the country. Presently 85 workers reach out to thousands of young people in 29 cities and thirty outreach towns with the help of scores of volunteers, associate staff, local committee members and helpers who carry a similar vision.

How do we reach them?
We reach out to young people through high school Bible clubs, home and campus Bible studies, youth retreats, camps, talent contests, rallies, conventions, open-air meetings, special music concerts, literature, video, etc. They are reached in high school and college campuses, public places, streets and everywhere opportunity arises. We also pass this vision on to others.

Do we train others?
India YFC trains anyone interested in youth evangelism. Every year regional and national Youth Leaders' Training Schools are conducted in regional languages and English. Experienced YFC staff and Christian leaders teach several relevant subjects to challenge and motivate individuals to witness to the youth. We are also available to train the youth leaders in churches.

What's the future?
With God's help and guidance we move into the next century with great expectation to change many young lives through the presentation of the Gospel, in cities, suburban and rural places of India.
