When Kevin got to Elise he hugged her and softly kissed her cheek, "I already know that you are." He whispered and continued. Kristin who was behind him smiled and gave Elise a look that said I never told him. ‘Lise laughed and gave her best friend a hug.
The next morning Kristin showed up to drive Elise to the doctors. "A.J. I’m taking your fiancée out for a day of celebration." She yelled as they walked out the door.
"Thank you Kris’ you’re the best." Elise said as they drove to go get her tests. "Should I tell him the news right when we get home?"
"Well, I guess so, I take it you’re pretty positive you are?" Kristin said and turned to her friend for the answer.
"Yes, I missed my period and I’ve gotten sick every morning these last few weeks." Elise said and looked down at her stomach for about the 60th time that morning.
Kristin smiled and pulled up to the door of the doctor’s office. "I’ll be right in."
Elise got out and Kristin went to find a parking spot. When Elise walked in she signed in and sat down. She looked at one of the magazines on the table and A.J. was on the cover. "I love you baby,” she said quietly to the man smiling at her from the magazine. She then ripped his picture out and put it up to her heart.
The only person who noticed was a girl of about 14 who was standing with her mother. The girl walked over and sat on one side of Elise, "You’re Elise aren’t you?" she asked.
Elise smiled at the girl and nodded. " So does that ring mean what I think it does?" the girl asked again.
Elise looked down at the ring on her finger and nodded again, "But please don’t tell the press or anyone else." Elise pleaded.
"I promise, I don’t want to mess anything up." The girl smiled as Kristin came and sat down next to Elise.
"Hey Kris’" Elise said and looked down at the picture in her hand.
"’Lise you gonna be ok?" Kristin said and motioned for the girl to follow her mother out the door.
"Um, I think so" Elise said and began to cry.
Kristin wrapped her arm around Elise. "Don’t worry ‘Lise I’ll help you through it."
Elise smiled and kissed the picture in her hand and stood up as her name was called. Kristin followed and held Elise’s hand while they waited for the results of the tests.
"Elise, good news, you are pregnant. You will have to come back for more tests and a checkup." He handed her a small envelope with a picture of her baby at its current stage, 8 weeks. "The nurse will tell you when to return." The doctor said and walked out of the room.
Elise kissed the picture in her hand and said "You’re gonna be a daddy."
Kristin hugged her friend and they drove to lunch to celebrate. Right when they finished they went straight back to A.J.’s house. Elise rushed into his arms and kissed him. "I have something to tell you baby." She said then searching his eyes. She had never been so scared in her life. "I’m pregnant."
His eyes lit up, he smiled like never before and immediately kissed her belly. "Oh god I love you! I’m gonna be a daddy!" He yelled and kissed her lips gently letting their lips linger together for a while. Kristin smiled and waved as she walked out the door.
"Oh ‘Lise I love you so much." He kissed her again.
"Alex," she rarely called him Alex but for some reason this time she did, "Alex, I love you too, but this also means tabloids for you since we aren’t married yet."
He looked at her worried face, "Oh screw tabloids! I don’t care; I love you too much to care about that. They can shove it up their lazy…"
"ALEX! Stop this instant. Don’t over do it." Elise said and rubbed her finger over his lips, "I get the point." She whispered and kissed his lips.
They sat down on the couch and wrapped their arms around each other. A.J. put his head down on her lap and spoke softly to her belly. "Hi I’m you’re daddy, I love you. You’re gonna be gorgeous. You’ll look like your mommy." He smiled up at his fiancée and kissed her belly. Just when they began to kiss the phone rang and he had to answer it.
"Hello, Yes, She’s great, I’m gonna be a daddy mom."
Elise listened to him speak. He was so proud. She blew him a kiss and stretched out on the couch. She propped her head up on the end and watched A.J. as he talked to his mother.
"Ok mom, I love you too." He finished and hung up the phone.
He walked over to the couch and lifted her head and set it down on his chest. "I love you." He said kissing her over and over again.
