Chapter Eighteen

"Please let me in Erica! I know you’re in there!" Nick was crying as he banged on the door. "I LOVE YOU ERICA!" he fell to the ground, "I love you." He held his head in his hands. "Please just talk to me." He sat there for about a half an hour and then he heard her.

"Talk, I’m listening." Erica said quietly through the door. She was leaning against the door crying.

Nick pulled himself to the door. "Baby, I’m sorry. I didn’t know she was going to do that. I couldn’t get her off. She just all of the sudden shoved her tongue down my throat. I’m sorry."

"Sure you are." Erica said sarcastic.

"Please baby you gotta understand…" Nick did the one thing he knew he was good at, "Even the lover makes a mistake sometimes." He began to sing, "Like any other fall out and lose his mind. And I’m sorry for the things I did. For your teardrops over words I’ve said. Can you forgive me? And open your heart once again, oh yeah." Nick cried even harder as he sang, "It’s true. I mean it, from the bottom of my heart. Yeah it’s true. Without you I am falling apart." Erica noticed the small lyrical changes, "The crap that happened I know that I was wrong, oh yes. Can you believe me? Maybe your faith is gone. But I love you and I always will. So I wonder if you want me still. Can you forgive me? And open your heart once again? "

"Stop. Don’t sing anymore." Erica couldn’t listen to him sing; it hurt her too much because she could tell he meant every word.

"I ended up breaking her nose to get her off of me." Nick couldn’t think of anything else to say.

"You broke her nose?"

"Yup." He could tell she was impressed and smiled.

"Wow, You did that for me?" Erica could barely compose herself, she was so happy. She tried not to laugh.

"I would do anything for you." They sat talking through the door for hours. They didn’t even realize they fell asleep.

"Erica? What are you doing here?" Erica’s mom woke up to find Erica sitting by the front door asleep.

"Mom!" Erica woke with a start. "Oh my god, did it rain?"

"No why?"

"Nick!" Erica flung open the front door and threw herself on Nick who was still sleeping.

Nick woke up and when he realized it was Erica he smiled.

"I’m so sorry. I love you Erica, with all my heart. Please come home."

"I’ll come home." Erica could barely stand herself. She missed him just holding her in his arms. And it had only been a little while.

Nick threw his arms around her and kissed her. Nick held the back of her neck and rubbed right below her ears as they kissed. After awhile Erica blushed, "You know my mom is right there?"

"Oh crap." Nick stood up very quickly and put out his hand for her mother to shake. "My name is Nick. I’m the man who is in love with your daughter." Erica blushed.

"Oh, I can tell. Well, would you two like something to eat?"

"Oh, yes. Please." Nick followed Erica’s mom into the house.

"You guys can sit on the couch."

"Thank you." Nick sat down and Erica sat down next to him.

For the first time he looked down at what she was wearing. "That’s my shirt."

Erica blushed, "I couldn’t leave it."

"It’s ok I understand." Nick kissed her and pulled out her box. "I didn’t look."

"Thank you." she kissed him again.

"Who’s that kissing my daughter?" Erica’s father walked in the room.

"Daddy this is Nick."

"Did he spend the night?" Erica’s father gave her a funny look.

"No, well, not exactly. We got in a fight. We were talking and he fell asleep on the front porch. I’m going back home with him after breakfast."

"That makes sense." Her father nodded to Nick and walked to the kitchen.

Erica smiled and leaned on Nick’s shoulder. "I love you Erica." He whispered. "I love you too Nick."

They were making out when Erica’s father returned with a tray of food. "You might want to wait until you get back to his house for that." He teased.

"Sorry daddy." Erica blushed.

"Yeah sorry. She’s just so…" Nick trailed off.

"Now listen I don’t really need to hear it. That is my little girl you know."

"I’m sorry." Nick picked up their food off the tray and the couple ate.

"Do you want more baby?" Erica asked quietly when they were both done.

"No, I’m good to go. Are you done?"

"Yeah, I guess so. Just let me say goodbye to mom and dad."

Erica said goodbye to her parents and she and Nick walked out the door.

"Oh man, I hope Aaron is ok."

"I’m sure that if he’s anything like you he’s perfectly fine."

"Aw, that’s sweet."

When they got home they found Aaron asleep in his bed. Nick looked at the clock, "It’s only 8:30," Nick pulled off his shirt and pants and jumped into bed. Erica followed.

"My bed feels really good compared to your front porch." Nick teased.

"I’m so sorry I made you stay out there. I didn’t realize you were still there."

"No problem. Like I said, anything for you."

Nick pulled the covers up further and wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her before they fell back to sleep.
