Chapter Twenty-five

Their days and nights went by pretty regular with calls from A.J. every night even if all he had time to say was “I love you,” and occasionally when there was time he was joined by Nick. But school was approaching rapidly for Elise and that meant Aaron’s trial was coming soon.

They had a rough two weeks but they got through it ok. Aaron was awarded his earnings and Elise was positive she had chosen the perfect candidate.

“Aaron! Get up for school we’re gonna be late!”

“Coming Shorty!” then he smiled and sang to himself, “Aw ma can’t you see that I’m playin’ the game?”

“You have everything?” Aaron asked her before they went out the door.

“Oops, I forgot my book.”

“Run get them, I’ll start the car.”

When they got to the school Aaron went to the cafeteria where they kept the students until the bell rang and Elise went to her classroom.

Aaron looked around but couldn’t find Jess who had told him that was her school but didn’t know he would be coming there. When the bell rang he made his way to his locker and after about five tries gave up and went to homeroom.

“Jack Carter?” asked the teacher, who was taking role.

“Here.”

“Could you come here for a second?”

“What’s up?”

“Could I just call you Aaron instead of Jack from now on?”

“Sure.”

When Aaron sat back down there was a note on his desk.

*Hey Aaron… or would you rather me call you Jack? You didn’t tell me you were coming here! Now I guess you want to know if Jess is in any of your classes. Right? Well, show me your schedule and I’ll tell you if you are. ~Faith *

Aaron looked around the room.

“Hey, look behind you.”

“Oh, hi Faith.”

“Let me see your schedule.”

“Ok, here,” Aaron handed her his schedule.

“Well, you have second, third, six/seven, lunch and eleventh with her.”

“Oh wow!” Aaron couldn’t hide his excitement.

The whole class turned and looked at him. “Hi,” he laughed.

“I know you!” yelled a girl on the other side of the room, “You’re Aaron Carter!”

“Yeah, hi.”

The group of girls around him giggled and turned away. Except Faith of course, “You know Aaron if you need any help getting around school just ask.”

“Ok.” The bell rang and Faith waved good-bye.

By second period Aaron was a nervous wreck. He hadn’t seen Jess since the ice cream parlor. Walking into class after the bell all eyes were on him. “Mr. Carter?”

“Yes?”

“You’re behind John.”

“Thank you,” right when Aaron at down he felt a hand reach around his waist.

“Shh,” the hand held a note. All it said was *I missed you*.

“Hi Jess, “ Aaron whispered out of the corner of his mouth all of his nervousness melting away.
