“Hello?” Elise answered the phone.

“Baby is everything okay?”

“Alex! Oh my god I miss you.”

“Is everything okay?”

“Yes, but it’ll be soon. Any day now they say.”

“You think I can ask to leave tonight and be there on time?”

“Yeah.”

“Oh thank God! Elise, I’ll be home soon, I promise.”

“Hey A.J. you think I could talk to my bro?”

“Elise is Aaron up? Nick wants to talk to him... it seems important.”

“I’ll get him up if he’s not. I love you.”

“I love you too,” A.J. handed the phone to Nick and left.

“Nick? Hey bro what’s up?” Aaron asked when he got the phone.

“Well I’ve got some great news bro. We’ll all be there for your play and Erica and I are engaged.”

“Are you serious?”

“Absolutely.”

“Great job bro! And tell Erica I said ‘hey sis’.”

“Erica, Aaron says ‘hey sis’.”

“Hey bro,” Erica laughed.

“Aaron I have to call Mom and Dad. Give Jess a hug for me okay?”

“Yeah, no problem.”

After hanging up Nick called the rest of his family and any of Erica’s that needed to know and then told the guys. A.J. informed them that directly after their concert that night he would be going home to his wife so he could be there for the birth of their first child.

The next two days in the McLean household were hectic. Jess and Aaron actually didn’t have time to fight and ‘Grandma’ was making sure everything was prepared. “Alexander James McLean!” Denise yelled form upstairs in the baby’s room.

“Coming Mom!” A.J. kissed Elise and ran upstairs to the baby’s room.

“The dresser is full.”

“That’s it? Just put some stuff in out closet.”

Bassinets were placed strategically around the house and the baby’s room was painted baby blue and baby yellow. All of the furniture was painted with designs of the same colors. A.J. was in the kitchen making lunch when Elise walked into the kitchen, “I think it’s time.”

Of course A.J. did what any man in that situation would do he freaked out. “Where are your extra clothes?”

“Car?”

“And what about…”

“Car.”

“My keys?”

“Alex, your keys are right here. Everything else is in the car. Let’s go.”

Aaron saw them leave and went to get Jess and meet hem at the hospital.

Leighanne got the call just before the boys went out to do their encore. “McKenzie Rayne McLean! 6 pounds, 7 ounces! MOMMA’S DOING FINE!” she yelled after them. “Oh and Brian, good news! WE DON’T NEED TO ADOPT!”

Brian would’ve turned around and ran to her but he was already up on the stage. “I love you!” he yelled instead trying not to trip.

“We have good news everyone!” Kevin yelled even though there was no need to since he had a microphone. “McKenzie Rayne McLean was born today to A.J. and … Lethia McLean!”

The crowd went wild as they sang ‘I’ll be there for you’. Brian began to cry as he sang. The tears weren’t enough to affect his singing but they were obviously there. When they came off stage Brian walked over to Leigh and slowly kissed her. “Twins,” she smiled with tears falling down her face.

“I love you baby.”

They stood there embracing until security forced them to the bus before it was to late to get out alive.

The next week was Howie and Jen’s wedding and the week after that was Aaron and Jess’ play. Since they all had a few weeks leave Nick and Erica decided to visit his parents after the play. Elise and McKenzie were released almost immediately and no one had ever seen A.J. so proud.
