Chapter Sixty-seven

“So, Jess what’s been bugging you?” Aaron asked once they were alone. Caden had gotten a ride home with A.J. and Erica decided to stay with Nick at the Hotel.

“It’s a little complicated.” Jess propped the seat back a few inches so she could rest.

They drove along in silence until Aaron turned on the road toward the airport instead of the hotel. “What are you doing Carter?”

“Well, you technically don’t have to work tomorrow since you work for yourself and I don’t think you’ve been properly introduced to my folks yet.”

“So you decided we would fly to Los Angeles tonight without telling anyone?”

“I left a message at the house.” Aaron smiled at her.

Jess simply shook her head and wrapped Aaron’s coat around her attempting to get a little bit of rest before they got to the airport.

Jess stood next to Aaron as he paid for the first class tickets. “I’ve never flown first class,” she whispered.

“It’s nice. Do you want to get a bite to eat before we board? We have some time.”

“Sure.”

As they sat down in the airport restaurant Jess smiled at Aaron, “All I want is cheese sticks.”

“Okay, but you’ve been spending way too much time with Shorty.” He quickly ordered and returned.

“Speaking of Shorty…” Jess paused as their order was set on the table.

“What Jessie?” Aaron took her hand.

“Well, I don’t know if I should tell.”

“Come on Jessie, you know I’ll find out sooner or later.”

“She’s pregnant again.” Jess quickly shoved a cheese stick into her mouth.

“Are you serious?”

“She didn’t actually say it but she took the test and came out of the bathroom beaming. She couldn’t stop smiling the rest of the day and she kept rubbing her belly.”

“She must be thrilled.”

“Yeah, I’m sure she is.” Jess finished her food and stole one of Aaron’s chips.

“I want kids.” Aaron stated after awhile of silence. “Maybe not immediately… but I think I’d be a good daddy.”

“Of course you would. That’s actually got something to do with what I need to talk to you about.”

“What? Do you not want to try the pill?”

“No, I’m going to try it. What I need to talk about I kinda didn’t want to say in a place this public.”

“Oh, okay.” Aaron glanced at his watch and stood up, “It’s time to go.”

Jess wrapped her arm around his waist as they walked to the terminal. “Girls are confusing.” Aaron smiled.

“Yes, but boys are stupid,” Jess gently kissed him.
