Megadeth 19/11/99 Quebec city- An odd thing happened before this gig. The venue was changed about a week and a half before the concert date. This was only announced on the radio. This was the first concert to be promoted in Quebec city by House of Blues. I called them up to know why they changed venue. They told me not enough tickets were sold and they were scared there wouldn't be enough people. No wonder , it was standing room only. You have to understand that here in Quebec city when there are no reserved seats people aren't going to be hurrying up to buy tickets. As they know it's not going to be sold out (the metal scene is that bad here) So they changed to a smaller venue. Which I thought was a bad idea. Concert night: I got to the venue an hour before the doors. There was a long line at the doors; I'd say about 200 people. When I finally got in I realized most people where without tickets and getting in line at the box office. I stuck around to see if it was going to sell out. Just as I thought, it sold out in half an hour. That's what happens when you don't know shit about the city you're promoting for. Two big thumbs down to the promoter who most likely won't promote again here in Quebec city. Enough with that. DDT was the support band and to be honest they sucked. Finally they went off stage after 50 long boring minutes. After the usual long wait before the headliner the beginning of Prince of Darkness was heard as the crowd rushed the stage. The sound was fucking loud, one of the loudest show I've been to. Especially the vocals which were bursting through my ear drums. Dave thought so also and signaled the sound man to lower it down a bit. I was worried a bit that Jimmy wasn't going to be able to fill Nick's shoes on the older songs, all for nothing, as In My Darkest Hour and Holy Wars were fucking awesome. (you couldn't notice it was a different drummer) I was sure they would play at least 5 or 6 new songs. Wrong again they played 3: Prince of Darkness, Crush'em, and Breadline. That left place for more older songs which I highly appreciated (I'm along time fan;1987). I can't quite remember the order but here is what they played: Prince of Darkness, In my Darkest Hour, Holy wars, Reckoning Day, Hangar 18, Breadline, Sweating Bullets, She Wolf, Almost Honest, Crush'em, Symphony of Destruction, Trust, A Tout le Monde, Use the Man, Peace Sells, Paranoid, and Anarchy in the UK. The highlight of the gig was A Tout le Monde, since Quebec city is mostly french speaking the crowd went wild when Dave asked us if we wanted to hear how bad he sang in french. Of course we wanted to. It was a beautiful thing to see and hear as we all sang the chorus. (I almost cried) This was another rock solid performance from Megadeth. If you're a deth fan don't miss this tour. If I could I'd go see all of their gigs!!!
