I've made quite a few "boats" over a span of more than thirty-five years. Don't have a penny to show for it. Many of them I gave away to different folks along the way, some to friends, some to total strangers. A few still hang upside down in my welding shed gathering dust and rust, and sawdust from the carpenter bee who's taken up residence there. I never was much of a salesman. For the ones I did managed to sell, the money just went towards rent, food and gas and welding rod.

I could have never made a good living from creating these boats. Hell, by the time I'd earned enough to buy a house and a new car I would have died from black lung from sucking the fumes of my torch all day, and night.
