	Portrait of former President of the Lao PDR Kaysone Phommihane, born in 1920 in the village of Ban Na Seng, Savannakhet province, his father Nguyen Tri Luan, was a secretary in the French administration, and his mother Lao. In August 1991 he succceded Prince Souphanouvong as President of the Lao PDR.
