Partial Public Immodesty =
Marriage Preventer & Destroyer

When Adam and Eve disobeyed That One Divine Directive that God had given them, they became ashamed of their [general-public-view] nakedness, and made for themselves too-skimpy mini-clothes replaced by the LORD's adequate-for-public-view wardrobing:

Gen 3:7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons.
Gen 3:21 And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins, and clothed them.

Ever since then, clothes have therefore been both a curse and a blessing. They have been a curse in not merely being cumbersome and removable, but frequently result in deprivation involved of publicly hiding the generally sensuous beauty of the nude human form. They have been a blessing in not only protecting our ancestral parents from outside-of-Eden harsh climates and environments, but in preventing confusion and immorality relating to mismatches and misconnections between the male and female human gender.

One should not presume that since Adam and Eve were clothed by the LORD, post-Fall occasionally-uncovered nudity was any more titillating than pre-Fall never-covered nudity. Nor should one presume that the new phenomenon of wearing clothes facilitated selective non-fornicative courtship leading to marriage, marriage itself, nor fidelity and non-adulterous faithfulness. Remember, Adam and Eve were already married while they were still innocently naked before their Fall:

Gen 2:25 And the man and his wife were both naked, and were not ashamed.

Being clothed did not destroy their marriage nor divorce them:

Gen 3:8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

None of the curses from the LORD engrained against Adam and Eve after their Fall directly involved nudity nor uncovering nudity, but had to do with:

Gen 3:16 To the woman he said, "I will greatly multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children, yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you."
17 And to Adam he said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, 'You shall not eat of it,' cursed is the ground because of you; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth to you; and you shall eat the plants of the field.
19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; you are dust, and to dust you shall return."

In the Old-Testament book of Exodus and especially Leviticus, Biblically-written legal prohibitions against uncovering nakedness (under CERTAIN circumstances) begin to exist:

Gen 9:23 Then Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it upon both their shoulders, and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father; their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father's nakedness.
Exo 20:26 And you shall not go up by steps to my altar, that your nakedness be not exposed on it.'
Lev 18:6 "None of you shall approach any one near of kin to him to uncover nakedness. I am the LORD.

It is intriguing that all throughout the Song of Solomon, there is never any mention of a male undressing a female nor vice-versa. There is, as in the case of Isaiah 47, mention of a woman undressing herself:

Song 5:3 I had put off my garment, how could I put it on? I had bathed my feet, how could I soil them?

Isa 47:2 Take the millstones and grind meal, put off your veil, strip off your robe, uncover your legs, pass through the rivers.

Isa 47:3 Your nakedness shall be uncovered, and your shame shall be seen. I will take vengeance, and I will spare no man.

And there are other references in Scripture to undressing one or more women:

Lev 20:17 "If a man takes his sister, a daughter of his father or a daughter of his mother, and sees her nakedness, and she sees his nakedness, it is a shameful thing, and they shall be cut off in the sight of the children of their people; he has uncovered his sister's nakedness, he shall bear his iniquity.
Lev 20:18 If a man lies with a woman having her sickness, and uncovers her nakedness, he has made naked her fountain, and she has uncovered the fountain of her blood; both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
Lam 1:8 Jerusalem sinned grievously, therefore she became filthy; all who honored her despise her, for they have seen her nakedness; yea, she herself groans, and turns her face away.
Eze 23:10 These uncovered her nakedness; they seized her sons and her daughters; and her they slew with the sword; and she became a byword among women, when judgment had been executed upon her.
Eze 23:18 When she carried on her harlotry so openly and flaunted her nakedness, I turned in disgust from her, as I had turned from her sister.
Hos 2:9 Therefore I will take back my grain in its time, and my wine in its season; and I will take away my wool and my flax, which were to cover her nakedness.

Even the LORD makes people appear naked:

Isa 3:17 the Lord will smite with a scab the heads of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will lay bare their secret parts.
Job 1:21 And he said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return; the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD."
Job 22:6 For you have exacted pledges of your brothers for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
Ecc 5:15 As he came from his mother's womb he shall go again, naked as he came, and shall take nothing for his toil, which he may carry away in his hand.
Isa 20:2 at that time the LORD had spoken by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, "Go, and loose the sackcloth from your loins and take off your shoes from your feet," and he had done so, walking naked and barefoot--
Isa 20:3 the LORD said, "As my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and a portent against Egypt and Ethiopia,
Isa 20:4 so shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians captives and the Ethiopians exiles, both the young and the old, naked and barefoot, with buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.
Isa 58:7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
Eze 16:7 and grow up like a plant of the field.' And you grew up and became tall and arrived at full maidenhood; your breasts were formed, and your hair had grown; yet you were naked and bare.

And the LORD gets detailed about what body parts can get naked and be exposed:

Num 5:18 And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and loosen the hair of the woman's head, and place in her hands the cereal offering of remembrance, which is the cereal offering of jealousy. And in his hand the priest shall have the water of bitterness that brings the curse.

2Sam 13:18 Now she was wearing a long robe with sleeves; for thus were the virgin daughters of the king clad of old. So his servant put her out, and bolted the door after her.

Song 7:1 How graceful are your footsteps in sandals, O royal maiden! Your rounded thighs are like jewels, the work of a master hand.

Song 7:5 Your head crowns you like Carmel, and your flowing locks are like purple; a king is held captive in the tresses.

Jer 2:25 Keep your feet from going unshod and your throat from thirst. But you said, 'It is hopeless, for I have loved strangers, and after them I will go.'

[It should be noted that any parts of the female feet (i.e. toes, ankles, etc.) are described by this verse, and applicable to those women who wear sandals, flip-flops, clogs, etc. without socks on!]

And what should be our response to having nakedness covered while in general public view? Is it either naturist or natural to attempt to convince ourselves that stripping it all off and congregating into one large nudist colony or park with bring back Paradise restored? The following Scriptures clue us in as to the Lord's answer:

2Chr 28:15 And the men who have been mentioned by name rose and took the captives, and with the spoil they clothed all that were naked among them; they clothed them, gave them sandals, provided them with food and drink, and anointed them;
Mark 5:15 And they came to Jesus, and saw the demoniac sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, the man who had had the legion; and they were afraid.
Luke 8:35 Then people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
1Cor 12:23-24 and those parts of the body which we think less honorable we invest with the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, which our more presentable parts do not require.

2Cor 5:4 For while we are still in this tent, we sigh with anxiety; not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

1Tim 2:9 also that women should adorn themselves modestly and sensibly in seemly apparel, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly attire....

Rev 1:13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden girdle round his breast;

Rev 7:9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no man could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

Rev 7:13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, "Who are these, clothed in white robes, and whence have they come?"

Rev 16:15 ("Lo, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is he who is awake, keeping his garments that he may not go naked and be seen exposed!").

The worst type of sexual indecency and obscenity in terms of public lewdness and lurid impurity is NOT the limited and controllable R-rated imagery of nude sculpture, painting, photographic, and video pornography......but instead the non-prohibited and most-often non-solicited/non-asked-for, sexually-harassing, RANDOMLY-OCCURRING, general-public display of particularly-female-human mopheadedness (i.e. loose long hair not tied in a back-of-head ponytail or tied up in a chignon), nude-armed sleeveslessness, naked-legged slackslessness (or shortened-skirted equivalent!), and partially-bare-footed sockslessness.

This has happened because of a gradual and insidiuous demonic general-public disdain and consequential disregard against modesty-descriptive, modesty-applicable, and modesty-promoting Scripture verses, whether committed in increasingly-secularizing public schools, network media, government offices and entities, and even in various-denominational churches.

In fact, the plethoria of legalistically-restricted-and-outlawed porn in print and on the tube is a direct result of the non-restrained and pervasive plethoria of non-restricted and legally-tolerated full-sized/live-person/true-color/in-motion partial indecent exposure of particularly human females displayed almost everywhere especially during warm spring, summer, and autumn days. Such is NOT conducive to facilitating getting married nor staying married, and much sexual vitality and desire is wasted upon those who frequently do not even indiscriminately want it nor need it from myriad non-selected sources, which damnable and despicable exhibitionists therefore in effect withhold and luridly divert would-have-been husband-potential prospects away from and against humbly-modest gals who each seriously crave and biologically need their very own man for simply marital (not necessarily very-expensive-wedding) purposes:

[The word "wedding" is found only once in the RSV Old Testament (in Song of Solomon 3:11)...and is found nowhere in the KJV Old Testament. Common-law harem polygamy is never expressly forbidden by God nor anyone else anywhere in Scripture....except for bishops, deacons, and elders in the epistles of Timothy and Titus].

Song 2:7 I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or the hinds of the field, that you stir not up nor awaken love until it please.
Song 3:5 I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or the hinds of the field, that you stir not up nor awaken love until it please.
Song 8:4 I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that you stir not up nor awaken love until it please.

And what should be done about those public exhibitionists who divert the sexually-awakening and sexually-starved away from truly-satisfying marriage and into the futility of indecent-exposure-related lascivious immorality and licentuous pornography?

Song 2:15 Catch us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vineyards, for our vineyards are in blossom."
Prov 5:3 For the lips of a loose woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil;
4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
5 Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to Sheol;
6 she does not take heed to the path of life; her ways wander, and she does not know it.
7 And now, O sons, listen to me, and do not depart from the words of my mouth.
8 Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house;
9 lest you give your honor to others and your years to the merciless;
10 lest strangers take their fill of your strength, and your labors go to the house of an alien;
11 and at the end of your life you groan, when your flesh and body are consumed,
12 and you say, "How I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof!
13 I did not listen to the voice of my teachers or incline my ear to my instructors.
14 I was at the point of utter ruin in the assembled congregation."
15 Drink water from your own cistern, flowing water from your own well.
16 Should your springs be scattered abroad, streams of water in the streets?
17 Let them be for yourself alone, and not for strangers with you.
18 Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth,
19 a lovely hind, a graceful doe. Let her affection fill you at all times with delight, be infatuated always with her love.
20 Why should you be infatuated, my son, with a loose woman and embrace the bosom of an adventuress?
21 For a man's ways are before the eyes of the LORD, and he watches all his paths.
22 The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is caught in the toils of his sin.
23 He dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly he is lost.

To sadistically expect a normal sexually-sensitive human male to turn away from general-public immodest female sights obviously imposed and irreconcilably forced at his eyesight with no reasonable way for him to turn away except to pluck out his right eye does not help him obey:

Matt 5:28 But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Matt 18:9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell of fire.
Matt 18:9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell of fire.
Mark 9:47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell.

Of course, selfish girls and women do not care who they offend and insult and abuse, violating:

Rom 14:15 (paraphrase) If your brother is being injured by how you publicly are immodestly misdressed, you are no longer walking in love. Do not let what you miswear in warm weather cause the ruin of one for whom Christ died.

Such massive immodest-public insanity and craziness will, of course, continue on and even get worse among many. One cannot stop a mile-long array of heavily-loaded railway cars being pulled along at 60 mpg by three locomotives chugging away at maximum throttle....by merely quoting a few Bible verses at it. The inertia of immodest intricately involved in every facet of human life is massave, reminiscent of the situation Ezra had:

Ezra 10:13 But the people are many, and it is a time of heavy rain; we cannot stand in the open. Nor is this a work for one day or for two; for we have greatly transgressed in this matter. A gradual braking is all that can be done, and such will work only among a choice few.

Those destined for salvation and blissful sinless eternity with the Savior will be purified and improve in their year-round public attire, while the evil and imposters will go from bad to worse until they all - like weeds intricately infesting the fabric of society - will someday be uprooted and forever excruciatingly burn in the everlasting fiery outer darkness:

Matt 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.'"
Rev 20:10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Rev 20:15 and if any one's name was not found written in the book of life, [he] was thrown into the lake of fire.
