Pay As You Go

At the time of this writing, Bush signed the $700-billion-bailout "rescue-plan" bill which - in his inferred words, will 'enable you without money to borrow money on loan to buy a desk when you do not have a desk so you can use the desk to be able to lend money to others without money who borrow money on loan to buy a desk when they do not have a desk so that they can use the desk to be able to lend.....' and so on.

It's what he calls 'loosening up tight credit' - a fragile house-of-cards built on greedy fools borrowing what those fools do not have when such fools do not have the money to buy it in the first place under the presumption those fools will get themselves enough money to pay it all back. A nation built on credit debt is headed for bankruptcy requiring international management from some authority greater than themselves. Perhaps you have read the economic buy-and-sell controls and regulations which will soon occur as described in the New-Testament book of Revelation.

As most of us know, a budget built on accumulated credit-card debt is a sure-fire way to cause oneself financial disaster. Not only does one have to somehow pay back the monthly credit-card debt, but pay it back with interest on the debt on time to avoid extra penalty charges. A debit card which does not involve interest penalties and merely takes already-in-the-bank money is of course much safer and just as convenient as purchasing by credit card.

Anyone or group of anyones who violate the Scripture verses:

Luke 14:28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?
Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.

is destined for devastating catastrophe.

What initiated the Financial Crisis of Autumn 2008 was the extraordinary hike in gasoline prices at service-station gas pumps caused by greedy big-oil foreign and national suppliers and companies plus greedy oil speculators and investors relating to Wall Street stock exchange. That was exacerbated by greedy real-estate-related investment speculators and traders plus realtors and lease-price-raising companies causing businesses to not be able to pay increased lease prices for the building spaces they leased for their small businesses. Added to that was the greed of those who voluntarily and foolishly took out loans for houses they at the time did not have the money to pay for, and realtors in their greed exorbitantly raising the prices of houses.....enough of which resulted in foreclosures. Should not the punishment for such greedy and foolish foreclosure-beset and displaced "home" owners seeking government assistance be their government-forced containment within senior-retirement-apartment complexes? The total cumulative effect of all this was loss of jobs and increased unemployment. And the buck stops at the free-welfare-provider sugar-daddy: the federal government with their huge deficit they can never pay up.

Both secretarial-looking, inferior-gender/weaker-sex, cutesy-glamor-girl, illogical-woman-immentality Palin (with McCain) and seasoned-foreign-relation-expert Biden (with Obama) have talked in their televised debates and stump speeches about "cutting taxes" or "making the Bush tax cuts permanent." Tax rebates for whatever on IRS Form 1040 in effect do not amount to anything significant for the poor who do not have that much income at all to cut, while the relatively small amount they do have to pay is a significant drain on their puny and limited monetary resources. Indeed, a far better taxation system would be to reapportion duties of the IRS to monitor an across-the-board 20% sales tax on all item purchases instead of the annual Form 1040 along with W-2 and W-4 Forms, and divorcing a stable and non-touchable Social-Security Fund away from any relation to the IRS. Elimination of employment-discouraging income tax should be a priority, and cutting the corporate tax rate in accord with international trade and exchange standards. Import and export taxes here and abroad should work in America's favor instead of in the favor of America-hating and antisemitic foreign countries. International trade with the hard workers of Mexico and China should be competitive against greedy high-wage/low-productivity union workers within the United States. Cutting such waste as grants to Planned Parentlessness (a.k.a. Planned Promiscuity) and homosexual-AIDS groups would be helpful for the national budget, as well as such boondoggles as Palin's Bridge to Nowhere.

The opening chapters of the Old-Testament book of Job remind us that tangible assets can be lost in moments, and even though people from their mother's wombs naked, people do not return to those wombs but instead repose, dressed in their Sunday best as they lie in their caskets in a funeral home before it is all lowered six feet into the ground within some cemetery amidst sobered yet-alive contemplaters. The entire Old-Testament book of Ecclesiastes is a reminder to work hard, enjoy life, and distribute investments "to seven or eight" as a financial safety net (that is: diversify), but realize that (euphemistically-speaking) there are no U-Hauls to eternity to which we all are inevitably headed. Keep in mind the destiny of all of man's glorious and innovative accomplishments and legacy on planet Earth and beyond:

Second Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise; the elements will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up.
Second Peter 3:12 [so be] waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be kindled and dissolved, and the elements will disintegrate with fire.

A few Scripture verses give renewal guidance for financial restoration and economic reconstruction:

Luke 3:14 Soldiers also asked him, "And we, what shall we do?" And he said to them, "Rob no one by violence or by false accusation, and be content with your wages."
Luke 12:15 And he said to them, "Take heed, and beware of all covetousness; for a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
Philippians 4:11 Not that I complain of want; for I have learned, in whatever state I am, to be content.
First Timothy 6:8 but if we have food and clothing, with these we shall be content.
Hebrews 13:5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, "I will never fail you nor forsake you."

James 2:2 For if a man with gold rings and in fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in,
3 and you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, "Have a seat here, please," while you say to the poor man, "Stand there," or, "Sit at my feet,"
4 have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
5 Listen, my beloved brethren. Has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those who love him?
6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you, is it not they who drag you into court?
7 Is it not they who blaspheme that honorable name which was invoked over you?
15 If a brother or sister is ill-clad and in lack of daily food,
16 and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit?
17 So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.

James 4:1 What causes wars, and what causes fightings among you? Is it not your passions that are at war in your members?
2 You desire and do not have; so you kill. And you covet and cannot obtain; so you fight and wage war. You do not have, because you do not ask.
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
4 Unfaithful creatures! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and get gain";
14 whereas you do not know about tomorrow. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
15 Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and we shall do this or that."
16 As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

James 5:1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you.
2 Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten.
3 Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure for the last days.
4 Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.
5 You have lived on the earth in luxury and in pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.
6 You have condemned, you have killed the righteous man; he does not resist you.
7 Be patient, therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it until it receives the early and the late rain.
8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

And finally, some imperatives on paying reasonable taxes for needful and not wasteful-pork government services:

Esther 2:18 Then the king gave a great banquet to all his princes and servants; it was Esther's banquet. He also granted a remission of taxes to the provinces, and gave gifts with royal liberality.

Matthew 17:24 When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the half-shekel tax went up to Peter and said, "Does not your teacher pay the tax?"
25 He said, "Yes." And when he came home, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tribute? From their sons or from others?"
26 And when he said, "From others," Jesus said to him, "Then the sons are free.
27 However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook, and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel; take that and give it to them for me and for yourself."

Matthew 22:17 Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?"
Mark 12:14 And they came and said to him, "Teacher, we know that you are true, and care for no man; for you do not regard the position of men, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?
Romans 13:6 For the same reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.
Romans 13:7 Pay all of them their dues, taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.
