Families for the Children

Changing the Lives of Orphans

One Home at a Time

I am Lynn Crooks. Over the last few years my wife and I have become aware of the hopelessness of the millions of orphans around the world. They have little or no hope in this life or the next. God has called us to start an orphan ministry to help Christian families help the children.  Our primary purpose is to find Christian Families for the Children.

Families for the Children is not an adoption agency but rather a resource to those interested in supporting the spiritual and physical well-being of children.

The purpose of www.FamiliesForTheChildren.org website is to provide easy access to the information already available to a prospective adoptive family and to others who will be Christ’s hands and feet to the children.  We are just starting to build this site.  Come back often and let us know of other valuable sites.

What
Families for the Children promotes and supports the adoption of and outreach programs to the orphaned children of the world by offering seminars, Bible studies, information sharing, support groups, personal counseling, mission trips and practical help.

Why       The primary purpose of the ministry is to place orphaned children into Christian homes where they will know the love of a caring family and Jesus Christ.

There are 16.2 million “double” orphans (UNICEF: “Children on the Brink 2004”).  Some estimates are as high as 100 million orphans in the world

Ø    Most have no hope—in this life nor the next

Ø    God’s Command: "Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans." (James 1:27a)

How       First and foremost Families for the Children promotes adoption.  “Theft, prostitution, homelessness, substance abuse, incarceration, and suicide affect the lives of the vast majority of those children who grow up as orphans and never find permanent, loving homes.” (www.howtoadopt.org)  Only a permanent, loving family can significantly change the statistics.  You can give a child the earthly and heavenly relationship they so desperately need!

Outreach is ministering to the millions of orphans who have not and probably never will be adopted.  Outreach might include mission trips, volunteering, helping and donating to many worthy outreach opportunities.

Support is using your money and your talents for the benefit of the children, the birth parents, and the adoptive parents. You may financially help an adoptive family, donate to an orphanage assistance project, encourage a young mother to choose adoption over abortion, or use your spiritual and job skills in many potential ways.
