Synopsis: "Lizzie Borden took an axe, and gave her mother forty whacks, and when she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one"...well, not quite, but the effect was just the same. Montgomery portrays the infamous ax murderess with impressive results. The film follows the real-life events pretty closely (a few liberties are taken) and uses actual court transcripts for a good part of the dialogue. One of Montgomery's most popular films.
