The Hero's Of Jousting
The Honorable Louis L. Goldstein knew everyone, and everyone knew him.  He was always there to promote, and support good causes, to help people who called upon him.  He served his state as a member of the Legislature and he has a record as State Comptroller that is unprecedented.  During World War II he served his country as an Officer in the US Marine Corps and saw action in the South Pacific with the 1st Marine Division.
Louis Goldstein was a graduate of Washington College in Chesterstown, Md. and has always served his Alma Mater well.  His college held a special place in his heart throughout his life and he served many years, until his death on the college board of Visitors and Governors.  In spite of his many busy days and heavy demands on his time Louis found some moments for Jousting.  He attended many of our Banquets, spoke at many of our Jousting Tournaments and attended many more just to shake hands and be with us.  He also attended legislative hearings concerning Maryland's
Official State Sport and testified on our behalf.  At one particular State Championship he was scheduled to give “The Charge To The Knights”.  It was a cold rainy and windy day in Harford County and not one local politician appeared, but the Honorable Louis Goldstein traveled from Calvert County to Harford County, over 100 miles, delivered his address and stayed to mingle with the riders and  the small crowd.  This was a shining example of vintage Louis Goldstein, dependable, helpful, enthusiastic and a true supporter of our State Sport.
Often he attended the annual Jousting Tournament at Christ Church just to mingle with his neighbors and friends. During his lifetime we paid tribute to him by bestowing on him a “Lifetime Membership” in the Maryland Jousting Tournement Association, an honor that has been given to only three people since the founding of the MJTA in 1950.

The Honorable Louis L. Goldstein our good friend and one of our greatest benefactors.

“GOD BLESS YOU ALL REAL GOOD”
