The Dog Board has purchased a new collapsed tunnel for the 2004 fair.

This year, friday will be fun day at the dog tent. It will feature dog games and tricks, and will run from 4-8 p.m. Another change at the dog tent this year is that demonsstrations will run from 4-8 p.m. instead of the usual 2-4 p.m. Also, we have new a program banner that will be displayed at the tent, and a board to post demonstration times and other important news.

Nancy's Fast Fotos will once again be available for pictures at this year's dog show.

This year's auction item for the dog program, a handmade dog quilt, sold for $800 at the Monroe County Fair Auction. The Buyer was Floreine Mentel. Thank you for supporting the 4-H Dog Program Floreine!

The Dog Board is looking into several ways of improving our program for the 2004 Fair. If you have any ideas you would like to share, please e-mail us or attend our September meeting, or the Banquet.

This year's dog banquet will be held on October 9th at 6:00 p.m. at Ranch's Steak and Seafood on Telegraph Rd.

There will be a 4-H Fun Match Dog Show at the Monroe County Fairgrounds on June 28th. The spring Dog Clinic will take place on May 3-4 at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. Check in will begin at noon. Judging begins at 1:00 p.m. There will be a $3 Fee for the first class, and a $1 fee for each additional class.

A spring Dog Clinic has been set for May 3 and 4. Check back for more details.

New officers and adult advisors have been elected to the board. A new Constitution has been approved as well.

The Dog Committee would like to thank all those who attended this year's banquet, and also would like to congratulate all those who recieved awards at it. We would especially like to congratulate our superintendants Meggin Guthrie, and Heather McGuire who recieved recognition for their dedication to the dog program.

Nominations for this year's officers were made at the banquet. Additional nominations will be accepted at the November meeting. We will also vote at our November meeting.

Congratulations to Serena Oehlers, who received the High in Trial Award, and Stephanie Kershner, who received the Master Stockman Award for the Dog Program at this years dog banquet.

The High Competitor Award has been added to the Dog Program. It will be awarded to the Handler and Dog who, together, compete in obedience, agility, and showmanship, and have the highest total score.

The next meeting will be held on November 18, at 7 p.m.

The American Red Cross will be doing a seminar on pet CPR and First-Aid on November 16. A $10 fee must be payed to participate for more info e-mail us.

The Dog Banquet will be held on October 10 at Hometown Buffet.

Our next meeting will be held on September 30.

The Dog Board will be creating a new constitution and revising our rulebooks. Our next meeting we will discuss both of these further.

We will accept nominations for officers at our next meeting. We will vote at the banquet.

We are considering adding a Sub-Novice Team class at the fair.If you have any more suggestions for classes please e-mail us.

The tentative date for our banquet is October 10. We will be having our premium/by-laws meeting in september.

The Pre-Fair show will be held July 13.

The Dog Board will be organizing another pre-fair warmup show

If you participated in the monroe county fair dog program in 2001 you are eligible for an additional $5 scholarship for exploration days.

The Dog Board has volunteered to be the clean-up crew for the June 1-2 Toledo Kennel Club Show at the Lucas Rec. Center. If you are interested in helping e-mail us.

The Dog Program had three delegates to the State Awards Assembly this year. They were: Jessica Mattes, Jake Mattes, and Sarah Raymond.

The Dog Board will be holding a clinic at the fairgrounds on May 4th. Seminars will include Obedience,Agility, Showmanship, and Tracking. The clinic will be followed by a fun-match the next day, May 5th.
