"All rise.  this mighty lump has received many accolades.  Mount Elbert is the highest peak in Lake County, in Colorado and in the Rocky Mountains.  Elbert is in plain view 12 miles southwest of Leadville, but many people mistake Colorado's highest peak for a thirteener.  With a more intense inspection, you can see Elbert for the monarch it is.  Elbert's size, not its height, fools people.  Elbert is one of Colorado's most enjoyable fourteener hikes.  Occasionally, football fans call Colorado's highest peak "Mount Elway."  (Colorado's Fourteeners From Hikes to Climbs, Gerry Roach)

Mount Elbert, 14,433 feet
I don't have a picture of me on the summit, but trust me I was there and signed the register.  The guy that I had take my picture must not have pushed the button all the way.  I should have checked the camera to make sure it was there but that is a hard lesson learned, now I will have to climb Mount Elbert again next year so that I can have a picture of me on the summit.  You can close the ads on the right by clicking on "close" at the bottom of them.
