This page is for RuneScape users that have only just started playing and do not know what to do and some terms mean. This will give a brief explanation of the game and what to do when you get started.

Interface
When playing the game you will notice 6 tabs across the top of the game screen. The First one from the left is the "inventory tab"- In the inventory it shows all the items you are carrying. You can only carry up to 30 items of any sort at a time, but some items like runes, certificates, and gp. Next comes the "map tab"- which when open allows you to move a further distance by clicking on a place on the map  then just clicking on the game screen. Going along we find the "statistics tab"- when opening that you will be able to see all your stats, your combat level, your skill total, your armour and weapon defence and power and aim, magic and prayer bonuses. If then you click on quests you are taken to the quest page. It shows you what quests you have done in green, and the ones you haven't done in red. Next is the "magic book tab" which will show you the magic skills you can perform and the runes you need to perform that skill. The second tab shows prayers that your are able to perform and the drain rate of them. Next is the "friends tab" which will show you all of your friends that you can pm in the game. To add a new friend there is a button at the bottom of that screen and will ask you to put in your friends username. To remove a person from your list then just click on the remove button which is next to the person you want off your list. The second tab on the page is the block list. It allows you to block people from seeing if you are online, stops them from messaging you, etc. The last tab is the "options tab" which allows you to change the status of your character. You can change your password, recovery answers, change you privacy settings, and log out.

Playing the game
In RuneScape to become successful at the game you need to put allot of work into training one stat at a time. It may seem hard to get you fishing to lvl 5 or 10, but that is less then 2000exp, to get my next fishing level I need to get over 100 000exp which will take me ages even if I can fish swordfish and tuna and lobsters.

Training
If you want a good level stat prepare yourself with items that might help you gain levels like with fishing, you could buy a net, fishing rod, bat, feathers, lobster pot, and a harpoon. And that is all the items you will need to get as high fishing as you can, although you may need about 300 feathers or 300 bait. But once you gain a level that you can fish or whatever another type of fish or what ever, then go and fish that new thing to get more exp.

Combat Training
With combat though it is a bit harder. First you need a weapon and some armour, so save up some money and buy some bronze or iron armour (it only costs about 300gp for full bronze armour). Then get yourself a weapon like a bronze or iron 2handed sword or a battle axe. Next you may want some food in case you lose to many hit points, so attack some chickens and get there meat and cook it on a fire or stove. Now you are ready to train your combat stats... These are- Attack, Defence, Strength and Hits. To train these stats at a low level, go and find a place where allot of chickens respawn, or some goblins (lvl 7). If you choose goblins and you have just started then you will need allot of food because they take off some hits when they attack you. If you choose chickens then just take a bit of food and keep killing as many as you want.

When in combat you can choose 1 out of 4 options. These options are- Controlled, Aggressive, Accurate, and Defensive. If you have chosen Controlled then the exp you gain from killing what ever you attacked will be divided into all four combat stats, attack, defence, strength and hits. If you chose aggressive then 75% exp will go into strength and 25% will go to hits. Same applies to the other 2, accurate and defensive except the exp goes into the appropriate stats. Remember though, You Have To Train For Ages To Get Good. The highest lvl players have played for more then a year and if not that they have played allot in a short time.

Quests
A huge part of RuneScape are the quest. When you have just started if you complete most of the quests then you will get to know the map better, faster. Quests also give you experience, items, gp, and the ability to use things like anvils and a range.
